SUBJECT: Memorandum of Agreement



INITIATED BY: Columbus Fire and Emergency Medical Services





Recommendation: Approval is requested to enter into a Memorandum of Agreement

with Columbus Technical College to allow Emergency Medical Technician and

Paramedic Students to obtain clinical experience by riding City ambulances.



Background: Columbus Fire and Emergency Medical Services has historically

offered our ambulances and skilled workforce to educate students from within as

well as surrounding educational institutions.



Analysis: Columbus Fire and Emergency Medical Services will provide the

ambulance and oversight of training to Students of Columbus Technical College.



Financial Considerations: There is no cost incurred for the Columbus

Consolidated Government.



Projected Annual Fiscal Impact Statement: There is no projected annual fiscal

impact.



Legal Considerations: All legal considerations have been addressed within the

Memorandum of Agreement.



Recommendations/ Actions: Approval is requested to accept the Memorandum of

Agreement between Columbus Fire and Emergency Medical Services and Columbus

Technical College for the coordinated clinical experience in the Students'

field of study.







A RESOLUTION

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING A MEMORANDUM AGREEMENT BETWEEN COLUMBUS FIRE AND

EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES AND COLUMBUS TECHNICAL COLLEGE.



WHEREAS, Columbus Fire and Emergency Medical Services requests council approval

of a Memorandum of Agreement that provides for Columbus Fire and Emergency

Medical Services to accept Students in the Emergency Medical Technician and

Paramedic programs for Columbus Technical College faculty coordinated clinical

experience in the Students' field of study; and,



WHEREAS, the Memorandum of Agreement specifies the responsibilities of both

Columbus Fire and Emergency Medical Services and Columbus Technical College;

and,



WHEREAS, the Memorandum of Agreement provides for the education of the Student

as well as the protection of Columbus Fire and Emergency Medical Services and

the Columbus Consolidated Government.



NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:



That the City Manager is hereby authorized to enter into a Memorandum of

Agreement with Columbus Technical College to allow Emergency Medical Technician

and Paramedic Students to ride on City ambulances for clinical experience.
