A RESOLUTION
No.
WHEREAS, Abby D. Sutherland, a nine-year old Mathews Elementary School student,
fourth-grader and soccer player, came before the Columbus Council on Tuesday,
October 26, 2010;
WHEREAS, Abby stated that she plays soccer at the Woodruff Farm Soccer Complex
and that they needed recycling bins at the Complex;
WHEREAS, Abby stated that thousands of bottles are going into the landfill
everyday and that it takes thousands of years for them to break down;
WHEREAS, after her speech, this Council agreed to place bins at the Woodruff
Farm Soccer Complex, Cooper Creek and Lakebottom Park, and to further implement
placement of recycling bins at all major parks;
WHEREAS, the accomplishments of Abby D. Sutherland are worthy of special
recognition by this Council.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:
We hereby commend and congratulate Abby D. Sutherland upon her efforts in
promoting recycling at the Woodruff Road Soccer Complex. Columbus is proud of
her accomplishments and her concern for our environment and we wish her every
success in the future. Let a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Abby D.
Sutherland.
