MINUTES # 37-07



The Columbus, Georgia, Board of Tax Assessors met Monday, September 24, 2007

at 9:00AM with Chairman William Braxton, Assessors Lawton Grantham, Richard

Stallings, Ann Grantham and Pat Hunter present. Also present was Chief

Appraiser Betty J. Middleton.



Assessor Lawton Grantham made the motion to approve Min#36-07; Assessor Pat

Hunter seconded the motion; motion carried unanimously.



The Board signed assessment corrections for real estate.



Met with Pastor Burton representing Church of God of Columbus, GA requesting

non-taxability for property located at 3215 Cusseta Rd (Parcel ID 047 005

018). Pastor Burton said that the parcel was used for overflow parking on

January 1, 2007. Assessor Pat Hunter made motion to make parcel non-taxable

for 2007; Assessor Lawton Grantham seconded the motion; motion carried

unanimously.



Met with Mr. Green regarding personal property account # 05662301. Mr. Green

had received delinquent tax notices for back years taxes. Mr. Green stated

they closed the business at 5304 Kolb Ave. in June 1999 and moved to 1232 11th

Ave., closed the business there in March 2000 and closed business license in

2005. The equipment used in the business was either trashed or converted to

personal use. The Board requested the Personal Property Department to audit

the account before making a decision.



Chief Appraiser Betty Middleton gave the Board for review seven (7)

applications for Enterprise Zone tax abatements.



Chief Appraiser Betty Middleton apprised the Board that the informational

meeting with the Development Authority and Economic Development is set for

Monday October 1, 2007.



Met with Residential Division Manager Bob O?Brien, reviewed and approved the

following:

Residential Division Manager Bob O?Brien discussed with the Board a problem

appeal to be brought back for a final decision.



Met with Commercial Division Manager Linda King, reviewed and approved the
