Hi Isaiah,
If this is a repeat email I apologize. I started typing this once before and I
may have sent you a partial e-mail in error.
To get to the point of this email, it has always bothered me that Victory Drive
has a bad reputation. It is basically the gateway to both Ft. Benning and
Columbus. I know it is the result of a lot of negative elements that have
caused the name ?Victory Drive? to have an unfavorable connotation attached to
it over many years. Now that we have the Infantry Museum as a real national
point of pride, I think it would be an appropriate time to re-name Victory
Drive. Rename it to something that would honor the infantry and make sense to
visitors coming to our area. Once such example would be Infantry Boulevard.
I know there would be costs associated with renaming this long stretch of city
road. However, in the long run I think it would help the image and therefore
the businesses that are located there.
Just a suggestion from a concerned citizen who is proud to be born and raised
in Columbus, GA.
Thanks,
Steve Hodge
