Subject Speeding
Description Have the staff to provide an update on an earlier request to the
Police Department with regards to the traffic crossing at Avondale Road and
Hawthorne Dr. where a speeder left the road and drove into one of our Deputy
Marshal?s home. Provide information on what the City is doing and what is
going to occur. (Request of Councilor Woodson)

Response Per report from Police Department:
This concern is a result of a traffic crash that occurred at Avondale Dr. and
Hawthorne Dr. The crash happened over two months ago in which two vehicles
collided at that intersection with one of the vehicles ending up in the front
yard of 2879 Avondale Rd., which is the address of Muscogee County Deputy
Marshal J. Weeks. Since that crash and receiving several complaints, we have
increased our traffic enforcement in that area and traffic Engineers have
placed additional warning signs at that location. I have directed the beat
units and Traffic Units to continue to aggressively enforce traffic violations
at that location.
