SUBJECT: Council of Juvenile Court Judges of Georgia
INITIATED BY: Juvenile Court
Recommendation: Approval is requested to submit an application, and if
approved, accept a grant in the amount of $7,500.00, or the approved amount,
from funds allocated from the Council of Juvenile Court Judges of Georgia for
the Purchase of Services Grant and to amend the Multi-governmental fund by the
amount of the grant award.
Background: Funds have been allocated to the State of Georgia to improve the
Juvenile Justice System in Georgia. Columbus is eligible for additional funds
up to $7,500.00 for FY 10-11.
Analysis: Funds will be used for pre and post dispositional psychological.
The grant period begins October 1, 2010 through September 30, 2011.
Financial Considerations: The additional funds request is an award amount up
to $7,500.00 with no matching funds. Funds will be used to provide services
for youth referred to Juvenile Court.
Projected Annual Fiscal Impact Statement: There will be no fiscal impact on the
general fund.
Legal Considerations: The Columbus Consolidated Government has been notified
of its eligibility to receive the funds.
Recommendations/ Actions: Authorize a resolution to approve the City to submit
an application for, and if awarded, accept additional funds from the Council of
Juvenile Court Judges of Georgia for the Purchase of Services Grant for pre and
post dispositional psychological and to amend the Multi-Governmental Fund by
the amount of the grant awarded.

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO SUBMIT AN APPLICATION, AND IF
AWARDED, ACCEPT A GRANT FOR ADDITIONAL FUNDING TO THE COUNCIL OF JUVENILE COURT
JUDGES WITH NO LOCAL MATCH REQUIREMENT IN THE AMOUNT UP TO $7,500.00 AND TO
AMEND THE MULTI-GOVERNMENTAL FUND BY THE APPLICABLE AMOUNT..
WHEREAS, additional funds have been made available from the Office of the
Council of Juvenile Court Judges, for the purpose of improving the juvenile
justice system and providing services for juvenile offenders; and,
WHEREAS, Columbus is eligible for additional funding up to $7,500.00; and,
WHEREAS, the grant period runs from October 1, 2010 to September 30, 2011.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
That the City Manager or his designee is hereby authorized to submit and if
approved accept additional funds from the Council of Juvenile Court Judges of
Georgia for an award up to $7,500.00 to fund the Columbus/Muscogee Juvenile
Court Purchase of Services for Juvenile Offenders Program, and to amend the
Multi-Governmental Fund by the amount of the additional funds awarded.
