SUBJECT: Memorandum of Understanding for Columbus Cricket Association
INITIATED BY: Parks and Recreation
Recommendation: Approval is requested to enter into a Memorandum of Agreement
with Columbus Cricket Association wherein Columbus Cricket Association will
maintain, promote and provide usage of the existing Cricket field located at
Alexander Park in partnership with the Parks and Recreation Department.
Background: The Columbus Cricket Association has already generously donated and
worked diligently to provide a cricket field at Alexander Park. The Columbus
Cricket Association through a partnership with Parks and Recreation will
maintain, promote and provide usage of this field. This field is used for
cricket games and tournaments.
Analysis: This MOU will continue until midnight on June 30, 2018. Either party
may terminate this MOU upon 30 days advance written notice to the other party.
Financial Considerations: The MOU will address all costs to the City.
Legal Considerations: Council must authorize the Memorandum of Understanding.
Recommendation/Actions: Approval is requested for city manager to enter into a
Memorandum of Agreement with Columbus Cricket Association wherein Columbus
Cricket Association will maintain, promote and provide usage of the existing
Cricket field located at Alexander Park in partnership with the Parks and
Recreation Department.

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT
WITH COLUMBUS CRICKET ASSOCIATION WHEREIN COLUMBUS CRICKET ASSOCIATION WILL
MAINTAIN, PROMOTE AND PROVIDE USAGE OF THE EXISTING CRICKET FIELD LOCATED AT
ALEXANDER PARK IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT.
WHEREAS, the Columbus Cricket Association is going to provide labor, materials
and associated costs with maintaining, promoting and providing usage to an
existing cricket field at Alexander Park; and,
WHEREAS, members of Columbus Crickets Association have received formal training
regarding the maintenance of this field and will continue to do so; and,
WHEREAS, donations, upkeep, additions and maintenance of the field will bring a
new and invigorated user group to the park; and,
WHEREAS, entering into this Memorandum of Understanding will provide a
partnership that will bring about a new sport and will attract visitors to the
park.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
That the City Manager is hereby authorized to execute a Memorandum of
Understanding with the Columbus Cricket Association wherein Columbus Cricket
Association will maintain, upkeep, donate, promote and provide usage of the
cricket field at Alexander Park in partnership with Columbus Parks and
Recreation Department for the promoting of the sport of cricket.
