SUBJECT: Donation for Alexander Park
INITIATED BY: Parks and Recreation Department
Recommendation: Approval is requested to accept the donation a synthetic turf
cricket pitch in Alexander Park at an estimated value of $10,000.
Background: The Cricket Community of Columbus has asked to donate a synthetic
turf pitch on a concrete surface with dimensions of 66 feet length and 10 feet
width at Alexander Park located off Veterans Parkway. The building of this
will allow to host and participate in professional and recreational leagues.
Analysis: The estimated cost for this project is in the range of $8,000 to
$10,000. The Columbus Cricket Community has raised all funding necessary for
this project.
Financial Considerations: This will be at no cost to the City as it is a
private donation.
Legal: Council must approve the acceptance of this donation.
Recommendation: Approval is requested to accept the donation a synthetic turf
cricket pitch in Alexander Park at an estimated value of $10,000.
A RESOLUTION

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY TO APPROVE AND ACCEPT THE DONATION OF
A SYNTHETIC TURF CRICKET PITCH IN ALEXANDER PARK AT AN ESTIMATED VALUE OF
$10,000.00.
WHEREAS, the Cricket Community of Columbus is requesting to donate a
synthetic turf pitch at Alexander Park; and,
WHEREAS, the completion of this build will allow Columbus and the community to
host and participate in professional and recreational leagues; and,
WHEREAS, the Cricket Community of Columbus will donate this and there
will be no cost to the City.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY RESOLVES AS
FOLLOWS:
That the City Manager or his designee is hereby authorized to accept
the donation a synthetic turf cricket pitch in Alexander Park at an estimated
value of $10,000.
