SUBJECT: Sale of Cemetery Lot Number 11 in the SW ? of Row C in Center
Circle of Riverdale Cemetery.
INITIATED BY: Ronald E Smith Deputy Director of Public Services
Recommendation: Approval is requested to sell Lot 11 in the SW 1/2 of Row C in
Center Circle of Riverdale Cemetery to Mr. Travis Kelley to use as interment
for the cremains of his wife.
Background: Previous selling of lots by the City was done by issuing a "Quit
Claim" deed for the lot to the buyer. No lots have been sold in Riverdale
during recent years. The lot in question was never on the market because the
space was taken up by a tree. The tree has since died and been removed thus
creating room for a single burial lot. The adjoining lots belong Mr. Kelley's
wife's parents.
Analysis: The sale of this lot will allow Mr. Kelley to honor his wife's
wishes to be buried next to her parents who are currently buried on the lots
contiguous to this lot.
Financial Considerations: The City will receive $1,200 payment for the lot.
Projected Annual Fiscal Impact Statement: There will be no annual fiscal
impact from this action.
Legal Considerations: Approval of Council is needed to allow the City Manager
to sell the lot in question.
Recommendations/ Actions: Authorize the City Manager to sell the lot to Mr.
Kelly.

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO SELL LOT NUMBER 11 IN THE SW ? OF
ROW C IN CENTER CIRCLE OF RIVERDALE CEMETERY TO MR. TRAVIS KELLEY FOR THE
PURPOSE OF BURYING HIS WIFE'S CREMAINS NEXT TO HER PARENTS.
WHEREAS, the City of Columbus currently owns said lot; and,
WHEREAS, Mr. Travis Kelly desires to purchase the lot to bury the cremains of
his wife; and,
WHEREAS, the Columbus Consolidated Government desires to sell the lot to Mr.
Travis Kelly for the amount of $1,200.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
That the City Manager is hereby authorized to execute the sale of the above
noted cemetery lot to Mr. Travis Kelly for the purpose of burying his wife's
cremains on this lot, next to her parents.

Introduced at a regular meeting of the Council of Columbus, Georgia, held
the 9th day of August, 2011, and adopted at said meeting by the affirmative
