Subject Unpaid Parking Citations



Description Have the staff to ask the State Legislators to pursue our request

with the DMV to introduce legislation authorizing the Columbus, Georgia

Department of Transportation/METRA access to the Georgia Crime Information

Center (GCIC) for the purpose of locating address information used in

collection of unpaid parking citations, but not for the purpose of reviewing

criminal history. (Request of Mayor Poydasheff)



Response: The City's Legislative Agenda included discussions regarding access

to GCIC.



Also, have the staff to check with other cities to see what they are doing as

it relates with the issue of unpaid parking citations. (Request of Councilor

Turner Pugh)



Response: Research Ongoing.



Have the staff to have someone to ask the Tax Commissioner to respond to the

Council as to the reason why we are unable to send someone in her office to

look at their records. (Request of Councilor Allen)



Response: Plese see report attached.



In the future, no matter what the issue may be, let?s make sure that we are

being proactive in finding measures to solve some of these situations and

problems we are dealing with. (Request of Councilor Davis)



Response: Concur with this recommendation, will continue with this effort.



Have the staff to check with GMA and NLC to see if we can get some idea of what

the standard is on uncollected parking citations. (Request of Councilor

Henderson)
