SUBJECT: Council of Juvenile Court Judges of Georgia



INITIATED BY: Juvenile Court





Recommendation: Approval is requested to submit an application, and if

approved, accept a grant for $7,500 or the approved amount from the Council of

Juvenile Court Judges of Georgia for the Purchase of Services Grant and to

amend the Multi-Governmental Fund by the amount of the grant award.



Background: Funds have been allocated to the State of Georgia to improve the

Juvenile Justice System in Georgia. Columbus is eligible for $7,500.



Analysis: Funds will be used for counseling services, psychological

evaluations, community service restitution and tutoring.



Financial Considerations: The grant is for $7,500 or the amount approved with

no matching funds. Funds will be used to provide services for youth referred

to Juvenile Court.



Projected Annual Fiscal Impact Statement: There will be no additional expenses

and a match is not required.



Legal Considerations: The Columbus Consolidated Government has been notified

of its eligibility to receive the funds.



Recommendations/ Actions: Authorize to submit an application and if approved

accept a grant front he Council of Juvenile Court Judges for the Purchase of

Services Grant and to amend the Multi-Governmental Fund by the amount of the

grant award.







A RESOLUTION

NO. _____

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO SUBMIT AN APPLICATION FOR, AND IF

AWARDED, ACCEPT A GRANT FROM THE COUNCIL OF JUVENILE COURT JUDGES FOR THE

JUVENILE COURT TO FUND THE PURCHASE OF SERVICES FOR JUVENILE OFFENDER PROGRAMS

AND AMEND THE MULTI-GOVERNMENTAL FUND BY THE APPLICABLE AMOUNT.

WHEREAS, Columbus is eligible for $7,500; and,

WHEREAS, the grant period runs from October 1, 2011 to September 30, 2012.

NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:

That the City Manager is hereby authorized to submit an application and if

approved accept a grant from the Council of Juvenile Court Judges of Georgia

for $7,500, or the amount approved to fund the Juvenile Court Purchase of

Services for Juvenile Offenders Program and amend the Multi-Governmental Fund

by the like amount.
