SUBJECT: Williams Road Limited Access Break
INITIATED BY: Engineering Department
Recommendation: Approval is requested authorizing breaks in the Limited Access
right-of-way of Williams Road between Fortson Road and Veterans Parkway for the
purpose allowing driveway access to Williams Road.
Background: The construction of Williams Road Improvement, Project #M-8059(2),
between Fortson Road and Veterans Parkway by GDOT provided a Limited Access
Right-of-Way allowing only six (6) breaks in the right-of-way for driveway
access. The Department of Engineering has received requests to allow
additional breaks in the right-of-way for new driveways that will serve
commercial development.
Analysis: Council has approved previous request as requested. Drawings are
attached showing the proposed locations.
Financial Considerations: There are no costs to the City. The approved permit
fees will be paid by the Developers.
Projected Annual Fiscal Impact Statement: There are no fiscal impacts for
approval of this request.
Legal Considerations: Changes to the Limited Access Designation requires
Council action.
Recommendations/ Actions: Approval is requested authorizing breaks in the
Limited Access right-of-way of Williams Road between Fortson Road and Veterans
Parkway for the purpose allowing driveway access to Williams Road.
A RESOLUTION

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING ADDITIONAL BREAKS IN THE WILLIAMS ROAD LIMITED ACCESS
RIGHT OF WAY FOR THE PURPOSE OF ALLOWING ADDITIONAL DRIVEWAY ACCESS TO WILLIAMS
ROAD.
WHEREAS, the Williams Road Improvement Project #M-8059(2) constructed Williams
Road from Fortson Road to Veterans Road and provided additional right-of-way
for future widening; and,
WHEREAS, this project created a Limited Access Right-of-Way and provided for
six (6) breaks for driveway access; and,
WHEREAS, the Department of Engineering has received two (2) new request for
additional driveway access to Williams Road; and,
WHEREAS, the approval of the new breaks in Limited Access will include
replatting the property showing the new breaks in the Right-of-Way to
accommodate the new driveways; and,
WHEREAS, the Department of Engineering reviewed the request and recommends
approval.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
That new breaks in the limited access right-of-way of Williams Road is hereby
authorized for the purpose of driveway access to Williams Road.
