SUBJECT: Donation of Scoreboards at South Commons Softball Complex
INITIATED BY: Parks and Recreation
Recommendation: Approval is requested to accept a donation of eight (8)
scoreboards at South Commons Softball Complex from Columbus Sports Council.
The estimated total of the scoreboards is $74,428.
Background: The Greater Columbus Sports & Events Council, Inc.?s mission is to
foster economic development in the City of Columbus through the recruitment and
facilitation of local sporting events, the promotion of healthy lifestyles and
the support of recreational facilities in the community. There are eight (8)
fields at South Commons Softball Complex and will receive a new scoreboard on
each field; In an effort to help with recruitment of sports and recreational
events in Columbus, the Sports Council through a partnership with the Parks and
Recreation Department sees the need to improve city facilities in order to
attract major events.
Analysis: Towards that, Columbus Sports Council has requested to make a
donation to the Parks and Recreation Department of eight (8) scoreboards for
South Commons Softball Complex.
Financial Considerations: This will be at no cost to the City as it is a
donation.
Legal Considerations: Council must approve the acceptance of this donation.
Recommendation/Actions: Approval is requested to accept a donation of eight (8)
scoreboards at South Commons Softball Complex from Columbus Sports Council.

A RESOLUTION

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO APPROVE AND ACCEPT THE DONATION OF
EIGHT (8) SCOREBOARDS TO BE USED AT SOUTH COMMONS SOFTBALL COMPLEX.
WHEREAS, Columbus Sports Council desires to donate a eight (8) scoreboards for
South Commons Softball Complex; and,
WHEREAS, the new scoreboards will enhance South Commons Softball Complex and
will be helpful in attracting future events to this complex; and,
WHEREAS, Columbus Sports Council will donate this money and will be of no cost
to the City.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
That the City Manager or his designee is hereby authorized to accept the
donation of eight (8) scoreboards at South Commons Softball Complex by the
Columbus Sports Council.
