SUBJECT: Factory Mutual Global Fire Prevention Grant
INITIATED BY: Columbus Fire and EMS Department
Recommendation: Approval is requested to accept grant funds in the amount of
$4,655.00, with no local match, from Factory Mutual Insurance Company for the
purchase of Fire Prevention Education Materials and to amend the appropriate
budget by the amount awarded.
Background: The Columbus Dept. of Fire/EMS has been awarded a no matching Funds
Grant, in the amount of 4655.00, for the purchase of Fire Prevention Education
Materials. The Grant was provided by Factory Mutual Insurance Company.
Analysis: The Fire Prevention Division will be responsible for utilizing the
funds to purchase and distribute the materials identified in the Grant request.

A RESOLUTION

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ACCEPT A GRANT OF $4,655.00 FROM
FACTORY MUTUAL INSURANCE COMPANY AND AMEND THE APPROPRIATE BUDGET BY THE AMOUNT
AWARDED.
WHEREAS, the Columbus Fire and Emergency Medical Services has been selected to
receive a grant from Factory Mutual Insurance Company; and,
WHEREAS, the funds, in the amount of 4,655.00 will be utilized for the purchase
of needed Fire Prevention Public Education materials; and,
WHEREAS, no matching funds were required.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:
1) That the City Manager is hereby authorized to accept the Grant of $4,655.00
from FM Global? s Grant Program.
2) That the City Manager is hereby authorized to amend the appropriate budget
by the amount awarded.
3) That the Columbus Department of Fire and EMS shall utilize the funds for
purchase of the identified Public Education materials.
