BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS MEETING
FRONT AVENUE, COLUMBUS, GEORGIA 31901
Commissioners Present: Scott Ressmeyer, Chair, H.S. Guron, Vice Chair, Bruce
Smith, Treasurer, Bill Webster, Secretary, Brian Plemmons and Colin Martin.
Commissioners Absent: Lee Brantley, Veola Hymes and Susan Lawhorne.
Ex-Officio Members Present: Richard Bishop, Larry Campbell, Cyndy Cerbin,
Janice Davis and Judy Thomas.
Ex-Officio Members Absent: Mike Gaymon, Dale Hester, Isaiah Hugley, Enoch
Morris, Burnie Quick and Mayor Wetherington.
Staff Present: Peter Bowden, Shelby Guest, Laura Walker and Linda Olvera.
Call to Order-Scott Ressmeyer called the meeting to order at 8:10 a.m.
Approval of Minutes-Bill Webster made a motion to accept the February Board
minutes,
the CVB held a Board training session at the Cunningham Center in place of the
March business meeting. Brian Plemmons made the motion, seconded by Bruce
Smith. A vote was taken and the motion passed.
Treasurer?s Report-Bruce Smith presented the February and March financials
for
approval. Colin Martin made a motion to accept the financials as read. Bill
Webster
seconded the motion. A vote was taken and the motion passed.
Sales Report-Laura Walker presented the February and March sales activity
report:
34 sales missions, 7 trade shows, of which 5 were military, 8 site visits, 13
groups
booking 3800 room nights and 13 proposals mailed.
Peter Bowden presented the Smith Travel Report (copy is attached.)
Chairman?s Report-Scott Ressmeyer
Giveaway Policy Discussion-The Board agreed this policy should be decided upon
by
the CCVB staff (brochures, bags, etc.)
Tourism Foundation Appointment-Peter Bowden has been appointed to the
Foundation?s Advisory Committee
President?s Report-Peter Bowden
Smith Travel Comparison Report-Colin Martin made a motion that the CCVB purchase
the report, seconded by Bruce Smith. A vote was taken and the motion passed.
FY 2008 Budget Review-
Board Workshop-update
Presidential Debate-update-Due to a lack of financial support, Columbus will
not make
a bid for the 2008 debate.
