Agenda Item # 1
Columbus Consolidated Government
Council Meeting
06/09/2015
Agenda Report # 119
TO: Mayor and Council
SUBJECT: Donation of Exercise Equipment to Gallops Senior Center
INITIATED BY: Parks and Recreation
Recommendation: Approval is requested to accept one Reebok Treadmill V8.90 and
one Gazelle Freestyle Crosstrainer Glider from a senior who is a member of
Gallops Seniors Center.
Background: The member has stated that he would like to donate these
items to the center for others to enjoy while using our exercise room. The
approximate cost of each item is $1,299.00 for the treadmill and $300.00 for
the glider. Seniors can benefit tremendously from regular exercise. Seniors
have even more to gain than younger people by becoming more active because they
are at higher risk for the health problems that physical activity can prevent.
Analysis: Parks and Recreation is requesting to receive the two items
indicated to use in the center for all participants.
Financial Considerations: This will be at no cost to the City as it is a
private donation.
Projected Annual Fiscal Impact Statement: None is expected.
Legal Considerations: Council must approve this donation.
Recommendations/ Actions: Approve the donation of one Reebok Treadmill and one
Gazelle Freestyle Crosstrainer Glider to be used by all participants who visit
Gallops Senior Center.
