RESOLUTION
NO.
WHEREAS, the Northern Little League B-Ball Yankees Baseball Team became the
2009 Jack Cook Tournament City Champions, (which is the highest level a B-Ball
team can go), by winning the District 8 City tournament held at Pioneer Little
League in Columbus, Georgia on June 16, 2009, by defeating the then 21-1 Peach
Cubs with a score of 13-0;
WHEREAS, the Northern Little League B-Ball Yankees Baseball Team, headed by
manager Jerrette Lee, won 6-0 over Chattahoochee County due to a forfeit and
was victorious over the Harris County team 19-0 on Monday, June 15, 2009 to get
to the championship game;
WHEREAS, the Northern Little League B-Ball Yankees Baseball Team, finished the
season with a 20-0 record, which was the best and only undefeated season of any
of the more than 150 teams at all levels that represent District 8. This
follows a 23-1 record from the previous season that was also best in District 8.
WHEREAS, the Northern Little League B-Ball Yankees Baseball Team, accomplished
this rare feat despite having the 10th pick out of a 11 team draft and all of
the players had to write an essay on character, respect, teamwork,
responsibility, or loyalty during their spring break to bring them closer.
Several of the players received the president?s award for making all A?s during
the 2008-2009 school year.
WHEREAS, the team motto was; Play Hard, Play Fair and Play like Champions and
that they did through all of their games outscoring their opponents 235-27 in
the 19 games they actually played.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
We herby commend and congratulate the Northern Little League B-Ball Yankees
Baseball Team players, Jerrette Lee II, William Screws, Jason Blackburn, Andrew
Jackson, Essang Bassey, Benjamin McLochlin, Alex Tongson, LaQuan Copeland,
Henry Solomon, Derrick James, Jacob Bartrug, Manager, Jerrette Lee, Team Mom,
Tracey Blackburn, and Coaches Stacey Jackson, Rick Tongson, Charlie McLochlin,
William Screws, Branden Bartrug, and Demareo Copeland, upon their 2009 Jack
Cook Tournament City Championship. Columbus is justly proud of this team?s hard
work and dedication to be the best on the field and in the classroom, and we
wish them every success in the future. Let a copy of this Resolution be
forwarded to the above-named participants.

Introduced at a regular meeting of the Council of Columbus, Georgia held on the
28th day of July, 2009, and adopted at said meeting by the affirmative vote of
