A Resolution Authorizing TO SUBMIT AN APPLICATION AND IF APPROVED ACCEPT A $5,000 GRANT FROM THE CAL
RIPKIN FOUNDATION FOR COLUMBUS PARKS AND RECREATION, COMMUNITY SCHOOLS DIVISION
TO CREATE A NEW NEIGHBORHOOD PLAYINGFIELD. whereas, the Before/After School/Summer/Recreation Programs administered by the Columbus
Parks and Recreation Department offers activities to youth; and,
whereas, we have identified two locations in high risk neighborhoods without safe
playing grounds; and,
WHEREAS, we provide daily activities to program participants and
citizens at no significant cost to the city; and,
WHEREAS, the need for recreational and character building activities
are vital to the health and stability of all youth and citizens;
That the City Manager is hereby authorized to submit an application and
if approved accept $5,000 in grant funds from the Cal Ripkin Foundation for a
Community Baseball Program the "Ripkin Way" to purchase equipment and provide
field supplies to implement the "Quickball" Program and authorize to amend the
Multi-Governmental fund for the amount of the grant awarded.
