A Resolution Authorizing THE CITY MANAGER TO SUBMIT A GRANT APPLICATION TO THE JUDICIAL COUNCIL OF
GEORGIA TO FUND THE MUSCOGEE COUNTY ADULT DRUG COURT PROGRAM FOR A ONE YEAR
PERIOD BEGINNING ON JULY 1, 2009. FUNDING IS DETERMINED UTILIZING A FORMULA
AND THE AMOUNT IS NOT DETERMINED UNTIL THE STATE OF GEORGIA ALLOCATES FUNDS AND
THE NUMBER OF ELIGIBLE APPLICANTS IS DETERMINED. THE GRANT DOES NOT REQUIRE
MATCHING FUNDS. whereas, funds have been made available by the Judicial Council of Georgia for the
continuation of Adult Felon Drug Courts; and,_______________
whereas, the Muscogee County Adult Drug Court began operations on October 1, 2007.
Since its inception, the court has had a total of (48) forty eight
participants, seven of which have been terminated; and,___________
WHEREAS,_this program provides a viable means by which qualified drug offenders
can be released form jail, participate in an intensive rehabilitation process
and upon successful completion of the program have their charges dismissed;
and,___________
WHEREAS, participants are required to pay for the cost of treatment,
drug screens and an administrative fee in order to participate in the drug
court program
_That the City Manager is hereby authorized to submit an application and if
approved accept a grant from the Judicial Council of Georgia to continue the
operation of the Muscogee County Adult Drug Court. _____________
