A Resolution Authorizing THE CITY MANAGER OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA TO APPLY TO THE GEORGIA DEPARTMENT OF
TRANSPORTATION FOR FY2006 and 2007 TRANSPORTATION ENHANCEMENT FUNDS FOR THE
CHATTAHOOCHEE RIVERWALK FROM THE 13TH STREET BRIDGE TO THE 14TH STREET
PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE. whereas, the Georgia Department of Transportation has available Transportation
Enhancement funds for the construction of multi-use (pedestrian/bikeway)
transportation corridors; and
whereas, the City of Columbus desires to complete a vital link in the Columbus Riverwalk
and connect the Riverwalk from the 13th Street Bridge to the 14th Pedestrian
Bridge; and
WHEREAS, the City desires to submit an application for FY2006-2007
Transportation Enhancement funds that will be applied towards construction
activities of the Chattahoochee Riverwalk; and,
WHEREAS, the Chattahoochee Riverwalk is identified in the Long Range
Transportation Plan, the three year Transportation Improvement Program (TIP)
and the Columbus Alternative Transportation System.
That the City Manager is hereby authorized to submit an application and if
approved accept FY2006-2007 Transportation Enhancement funds from the Georgia
Department of Transportation to be used towards construction activities
associated with the Chattahoochee Riverwalk from the 13th Street Bridge to the
14th Street Pedestrian Bridge.
