A Resolution Authorizing THE CITY MANAGER TO DECLARE SURPLUS AND DISPOSE OF THE UNOPENED PORTION OF THE

STREET SEGMENT OF DORIS DRIVE AND THE RIGHTS-OF-WAY BEGINNING AT THE WEST

RIGHT-OF-WAY LINE OF GARFIELD DRIVE AND EXTENDING EAST APPROXIMATELY 490 FEET,

SHOWN AS PARCEL "A" ON THE ATTACHED DRAWING AND A PORTION MAURICE DRIVE AND

THE RIGHTS-OF-WAY BEGINNING AT THE NORTHERN RIGHT OF WAY LINE OF DORIS DRIVE

AND EXTENDING NORTH AN APPROXIMATE DISTANCE OF 165 FEET SHOWN AS PARCEL "B" ON

THE ATTACHED DRAWING TO GREEN ACRES CEMETERY BY QUIT CLAIM DEED IN EXCHANGE FOR

LOT 5, BLOCK C OF CARVER PARK SUBDIVISION. whereas, the unopened portion of the street segment of Doris Drive and the rights-of-way

beginning at the west right-of-way line of Garfield Drive and extending east

approximately 490 feet, shown as parcel "A" on the attached drawing was not

improved remaining undeveloped; and,
whereas, a portion of Maurice Drive and the rights-of-way beginning at the northern

right of way line of Doris Drive and extending north an approximate distance of

165 feet, shown as parcel "B" on the attached drawing was not improved

remaining undeveloped; and,
WHEREAS, the exchange of this property will benefit the City by providing

property on which to construct a building and tower for the 800 MHz Radio

System; and,

WHEREAS, the construction of the radio equipment building and tower will

eliminate the requirement to pay rent on the WXTX tower thereby saving the City

$49,200 per year; and,

WHEREAS, the transfer of this street segment provides that all existing utility

easements of record remain in effect and providing appropriate width as

required by applicable utility companies shall be reserved for unknown

utilities.

NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:

That the City Manager is hereby authorized to declare surplus and

dispose of the unopened portion of the street segment of Doris Drive and the

rights-of-way beginning at the west right-of-way line of Garfield Drive and

extending east approximately 490 feet, shown as parcel "A" on the attached

drawing and a portion of Maurice Drive and the rights-of-way beginning at the

northern right of way line of Doris Drive and extending north an approximate

distance of 165 feet, shown as parcel "B" on the attached drawing, to Green

Acres Cemetery by Quit Claim Deed in exchange for Lot 5, Block C of Carver Park

Subdivision and accept in exchange Lot 5, Block C, of Carver Park Subdivision.
