A Resolution Authorizing THE MAYOR, CITY MANAGER, AND FINANCE DIRECTOR TO TAKE SUCH ACTIONS AS ARE
NECESSARY TO PURCHASE PROPERTY LOCATED AT 800 FRONT AVENUE IN THE AMOUNT OF
$4,000,000 PLUS THE COST OF TITLE INSURANCE FROM THE WYNDAM HOTEL, FORMERLY THE
COLUMBUS HILTON, TO PROVIDE PROPERTY TO CONSTRUCT AN APPROXIMATE 300 CAR
PARKING GARAGE TO ACOMODATE HOTEL PATRONS, TRADE CENTER PATRONS, AND THE
GENERAL PUBLIC. whereas, the Wyndham Hotel has decided to sell the Hotel to a local developer; and,
whereas, the current parking lot on the south side of the hotel is the appropriate
location for a parking garage; and,
WHEREAS, the City, through a Memorandum of Understanding, will construct and
manage an approximate 300 car parking garage to be used by hotel patrons, Trade
Center patrons, and the general public.
The Mayor, City Manager, and Finance Director are authorized to take such actions as are necessary to complete the purchase of property from the Wyndham Hotel, formerly the Columbus Hilton, located at 800 Front Avenue which is currently the parking lot on the south side of the hotel, for the purchase price of $4,000,000 plus the cost of title insurance to be paid from a private contribution at closing on or about November 1, 2002. The property will be used to construct an aproximate 300 car parking garage.
Introduced at a regular meeting of the Council of Columbus, Georgia, held the 29th day of October, 2002 and adopted at said meeting by the affirmative vote of members of said Council.
