A Resolution Authorizing THE CITY TO SUBMIT AN APPLICATION AND IF APPROVED ACCEPT FUNDS FROM THE UNITED
STATES TENNIS ASSOCIATION IN THE AMOUNT OF $3,000.00. THIS GRANT WILL ALLOW
COLUMBUS PARKS AND RECREATION, COMMUNITY SCHOOLS DIVISION TO PURCHASE TENNIS
EQUIPMENT FOR A COMMUNITY TENNIS PROGRAM AT BENNING PARK TENNIS COURTS. whereas, the Department of Parks and Recreation administers programs for the community
which offer educational and physical activities for all citizens; and,
whereas, the Columbus Parks and Recreation Department has seven tennis courts available
for programming at the Benning Park location throughout the year; and,
WHEREAS, the Columbus Parks and Recreation Department provides daily
activities to program participants and citizens at no significant cost to the
city; and,
WHEREAS, the need for fitness and programs designed to help those at
risk and special populations are vital to the health and stability of all youth
and citizens.
That the City Manager is hereby authorized to submit an application and
if approved accept a $3,000 grant from The United States Tennis Association for
program equipment for a community tennis program at Benning Park with the
Department of Columbus Parks and Recreation and authorized to amend the
Multi-Governmental fund for the amount approved for the grant.
