A Resolution Authorizing THE ACCEPTANCE OF GRANT FUNDS FROM KNIGHT FOUNDATION IN THE AMOUNT OF
$25,000.00 TO PARTICIPATE IN THE MARSHALL MOVERS AFTER SCHOOL AND SUMMER
PROGRAM. whereas, when many of the Marshall Middle School students get out of school they are
without the means for after school care or summer activities. The Department of
Parks and Recreation, Recreation Division provides the Marshall Movers After
School and Summer Program during the summer vacation form July 2005 through
April 2006, and provides snacks/meals, tutoring, field trips, a safe
environment and positive activities for the students who attend Marshall Middle
School who might not otherwise receive nutritious meals; and,
whereas, the Columbus Parks and Recreation Department administers the Marshall Movers
After School and Summer Program to 15 students during the school year and 15
students throughout the summer; and,
WHEREAS, the need of positive activities and a safe environment are
vital to the health and stability of all youth.
That the City Manager is hereby authorized to accept funds for the
Marshall Movers After School and Summer program from the Knight Foundation and
amend the Multi-Governmental Fund by the amount of the grant. The Program is
funded by approximately $25,000.00 for After School and Summer programs from
the Knight Foundation
