A Resolution Authorizing TO REQUEST THE GEORGIA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION TO CONSIDER AN ALTERNATE
DESIGNS CONCEPT FOR THE WIDENING OF BUENA VISTA ROAD FROM BROWN AVENUE TO
ILLGES ROAD. whereas, during the original concept phase of design for the Buena Vista Road Project
the design was a 4 lane with turning lanes; and,
whereas, the demographic information used to determine the need for the original concept
has not materialized and an alternate proposal has been developed by an
engineering consultant under the contract with Mid-Town Organization; and,
WHEREAS, this concept calls for a three lane section with intersection
improvements and is more in line with the Georgia Department of
Transportation's Context Sensitive Design Scheme than the original four lane
with turning lane concept; and,
WHEREAS, the alternate concept provides a more pedestrian friendly road network
and the opportunity for economic growth along the network.
That the City Manager is hereby authorized to amend the Buena Vista
Road Project from four lanes with turn lanes to three lanes with intersection
improvements and also authorized to submit this amendment to the Georgia
Department of Transportation for consideration.
