A Resolution Authorizing THE INVOCATION OF EMINENT DOMAIN TO ACQUIRE PROPERTY ON BENNING DRIVE. SOUTH
COLUMBUS COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT, INC. WISHES THE CITY TO INVOKE EMINENT DOMAIN
TO CLEAR TITLE TO SAID PROPERTY. THE SOUTH COLUMBUS COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT,
INC., AGREES TO REIMBURSE THE CITY FOR ANY COSTS. THE PROPERTY IS LOCATED IN
COLUMBUS, MUSCOGEE COUNTY, GEORGIA, TAX MAP PARCEL 064-032-006 A/K/A 912
BENNING DRIVE. whereas, the Columbus Housing Initiative, Inc. on behave of South Columbus Community
Development, Inc., has requested the assistance of the Consolidated Government
in acquiring the parcel; and
whereas, it is in the public interest of the Consolidated Government of Columbus,
Georgia and South Columbus Community Development, Inc., to condemn the parcel
located at 912 Benning Drive for the redevelopment of the neighborhood; and,
WHEREAS, South Columbus Community Development, Inc. will reimburse the
Consolidated Government for all cost associated with the condemnation and
transfer of said property to South Columbus Community Development, Inc.
That the City Manager is hereby authorized to acquire the property through
condemnation, to clear title and declare said property described above as
surplus, advertise and transfer said property to South Columbus Community
Development, Inc.
