A Resolution Authorizing THE INVOCATION OF EMINENT DOMAIN TO ACQUIRE PROPERTY CONSISTING OF 277.83 SQ.
FT. +/-. COLUMBUS HISTORIC FOUNDATION, INC., WISHES THE CITY TO INVOKE EMINENT
DOMAIN TO CLEAR TITLE TO THE PROPERTY. THE COLUMBUS HISTORICAL FOUNDATION,
INC., AGREES TO REIMBURSE TO CITY FOR ANY COSTS ASSOCIATED THEREWITH. SAID
PROPERTY IS LOCATED IN COLUMBUS, MUSCOGEE COUNTY, GEORGIA, TAX MAP PARCEL
019-017-028 A/K/A 411 8TH ST. whereas, Columbus Historic Foundation, Inc., has requested the assistance of the
Consolidated Government in acquiring the parcel through eminent domain; and,
whereas, it is in the public interest of the Consolidated Government of Columbus,
Georgia and Columbus Historic Foundation, Inc., to condemn the parcel located
at 411 8th Street, rehabilitate the historic structure and place on the tax
role; and,
WHEREAS, Columbus Historic Foundation, Inc., will reimburse the
Consolidated Government for all cost associated with the condemnation and
transfer of said property to Columbus Historic Foundation, Inc.
That the City Manager is hereby authorized to invoke eminent domain to acquire the property, in order to clear titles and thereafter transfer said property to Historic Columbus Foundation, Inc.
Introduced at a regular meeting of the Council of Columbus, Georgia, held the day of and adopted at said meeting by the affirmative vote of members of said Council.
