A Resolution Authorizing THE CITY MANAGER TO TRANSFER THREE (3) ACRES OF LAND IN SHIRLEY WINSTON PARK
ON STEAM MILL ROAD TO JULIUS ROGERS WHO WILL IN TURN GIFT THE PROPERTY TO
PETERS CHAPEL A.M.E. CHURCH, IN COLUMBUS, MUSCOGEE COUNTRY, GEORGIA whereas, Julius Rogers previously sold a portion of Shirley Winston Park to the City of
Columbus; and,
WHEREAS, Julius Rogers will accept the three (3) acres in Shirley Winston Park,
and;
WHEREAS, Julius Rogers will in turn gift the property to Peters Chapel A.M.E.
Church; and,
WHEREAS, Peters Chapel A.M.E. Church owns the property at 5001 Steam Mill Road
a/k/a Tax Map 088 017 018 next to Shirley Winston Park; and,
whereas, Peters Chapel A.M.E. Church will utilize the land to expand the churches
facility; and,
WHEREAS, after school programs and a family life center is needed in the
community; and,
WHEREAS, it has been determined the price of $45,000.00 is fair and equitable.
That the City Manager is hereby authorized to:
1 Declare surplus 3 acres of property located at 5001 Steam Mill Road;
2 Execute a Quit Claim Deed for the transfer of said three acres (3) of land in
Shirley Winston Park on Steam Mill Road for $45,000.00 to Julius Rogers;
and,
3. File all deeds with the Clerk of Superior Court of Muscogee County,
Georgia.
