A Resolution Authorizing THE FINANCE DIRECTOR TO ISSUE PAYMENT IN THE AMOUNT OF $11,064.57 FROM THE
PENSION FUND TO THE EMPLOYEES' RETIREMENT SYSTEM (ERS) OF GEORGIA ON BEHALF OF
OZELLA K.SMITH TO ESTABLISH CREDIT UNDER ERS FOR THE PERIOD OF TIME THAT SHE
PARTICIPATED IN THE COLUMBUS, GA EMPLOYEES' PENSION PLAN. whereas, Ozella K. Smith is a former member of the Columbus, GA Employees' Pension Plan
and is currently a member of the Employees' Retirement System (ERS) of Georgia
as secretary to Superior Court Judge, John D. Allen.
whereas, Ozella K. Smith has notified ERS and the Columbus, GA Employees' Pension Board
that she intends to establish her City of Columbus service under ERS.
WHEREAS, O.C.G.A. 47-2-264(d) allows any member of ERS to obtain credible
service for prior service as a secretary to a state court judge while a
participating member of a county retirement system by so notifying the board of
trustees of ERS and the county retirement system.
WHEREAS, O.C.G.A. 47-2-264(d) requires that upon receiving notification by the
member, that all employer and employee contributions made by or on behalf of
the member, together with regular interest thereon be transferred to ERS.
WHEREAS, William M. Mercer, Inc, actuaries for the Columbus, GA Employees'
Pension Plan have calculated the value of contributions plus interest to be
$11,064.57, and this has been verified by the ERS actuaries.
The Finance Director is authorized to issue payment in the amount of $11,064.57 from the Pension Fund to the Employees' Retirement System (ERS) of Georiga on behalf of Ozella K. Smith to establish credit under ERS for the period of time that she participated in the Columbus, GA Employees' Pension Plan.
Introduced at a regular meeting of the Council of Columbus, Georgia, held the day of and adopted at said meeting by the affirmative vote of members of said Council.
