A Resolution Authorizing TO APPROVE THE TRANSFER OF 12 PARCELS OF PROPERTY THAT CAME INTO THE POSSESSION
OF THE CITY THROUGH DELINQUENT TAX SALES FROM 1979 TO 1993. (SEE ATTACHED
MAPS), IDENTIFIED AS SHERIFF DEEDS TO BE TRANSFERRED BY THE CITY, TO THE LAND
BANK AUTHORITY. whereas, the 12 parcels of property came into the possession of the City through
delinquent taxes and were declared surplus through Resolution No. 541-99 and
marketed for sell for more than a year; and,
whereas, it has been determined that non-profit organizations are interested in
developing these properties and will pay all expenses related to the transfer
and sale; and,
WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the Consolidated Government of Columbus,
Georgia to place the properties with the Land Bank Authority, for the
non-profit organization to return the properties to the tax rolls; and,
WHEREAS, it is the best interest of the Consolidated Government of Columbus,
Georgia to return said properties to the tax roll.
transfer 12 Sheriff?s Deed surplus properties to the Land Bank Authority to be
marketed to non-profit organizations for the disposition and sale of said
properties. The non-profit housing developer will develop the property within 2
years of date of sale to the Land Bank Authority. Failure to develop will
result in the forgiven liens to be immediately due within a 60-day period.
Such commitment will be collateralized by a Security Deed.
Introduced at a regular meeting of the Council of Columbus, Georgia, held the day of and adopted at said meeting by the affirmative vote of members of said Council.
