A Resolution Authorizing TO SUBMIT AN APPLICATION AND IF APPROVED ACCEPT A $10,000 GRANT FROM THE
NATIONAL EYE INSTITUTE. THIS GRANT WILL ALLOW COLUMBUS PARKS AND RECREATION
COMMUNITY SCHOOLS DIVISION TO IMPLEMENT VISION SCREENINGS AND DEFRAY COSTS OF
TWO HEALTH EXPO'S ANNUALLY. whereas, the Community Schools Division administered by the Columbus Parks and
Recreation Department offers activities to citizens; and,
whereas, we administer programs and in City facilities throughout the Columbus area; and,
WHEREAS, we provide programming where health, fitness and physical
activities take place; and,
WHEREAS, the need for educational materials, vision screenings and
Health Expos need to be offered to our citizens at no cost; and,
WHEREAS, the need for protective eyewear in and out of the workplace
are vital to healthy vision for citizens.
That the City Manager is hereby authorized to submit an application and
if approved accept $10,000 in grant funding from The National Eye Institute to
implement a Healthy Vision Program with quarterly screenings and two annual
Health Expo's. Amend the Multi-Governmental Fund by the amount of the grant
awarded.
