A Resolution Authorizing THE ACCEPTANCE AND APPROVAL FOR THE EDWARD BRYNE JUSTICE ASSISTANCE GRANT IN

THE AMOUNT OF $132,686; CONDUCT A PUBLIC HEARING FOR PUBLIC COMMENTS ON THE

PROJECTS SUBMITTED FOR THE GRANT ALLOCATION AND AMEND THE MULTI-GOVERNMENTAL

FUND BY THE AMOUNT OF THE GRANT. whereas, the Columbus Consolidated Government is applying for the Edward Bryne Justice

Assistance Grant in the amount of $132,686; and no local match is required;

and,
whereas, it is the replacement grant from the combination of the Edward Bryne Grant and

the Local Law Enforcement Grant. This grant focuses on activities in the

following program areas: law enforcement; prosecution and court; prevention

and education; correction and community correction; drug treatment and planning

and evaluation. The allocation will be divided between Police ($68,228),

Sheriff ($18,200), Marshal ($6,000), Finance ($1,100), Juvenile Court ($5,000)

and Homeland Security ($34,158) as outlined in Attachment A.

NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:

The City Manager is hereby authorized to submit an application and if

approved accept the Edward Bryne Justice Assistance Grant in the amount of

$132,686; amend the Multi-Governmental Grant Fund by the amount of the award

authority and authorize the execution all documents necessary for the

implementation of the grant.
