Subject: The Midtown Project

Liz,

The School Board and Superintendent of Education would like to invite the

Mayor, City Manager, City Council Members and anyone else who would like to

tour a site designed by Tunnell-Spangler-Walsh & Associates similar to a

proposal for the property at 3012 Macon Road, jointly owned by the Muscogee

County School District and the City of Columbus. We will also have those from

the Midtown Project group attending.

At its last meeting the Board endorsed the concept of developing this property

and to proceed with discussions and negotiations with the City of Columbus.

The tour site is the Vickery Plan in Cumming, Georgia. It has been implemented

by the firm of Tunnell-Spangler-Walsh & Associates covering 210-acres. The

Vickery project is made up of a Town Center, YMCA, Library, Fire Station,

Retail, and Work/Live Units.

A tour of this Community Project is scheduled for Saturday, June 18, 2005. We

would leave Columbus at 7:30 a.m. from the new Columbus Library parking lot to

arrive around 11:00 a.m. We will meet TSW representatives and Planners on

location. (Lunch will be provided.)

We are really excited about this venture and hope that Council and others can

join us. I am planning for transportation so, please let me know who would

like to attend this Community Project with us as soon as you know.

Thank you again.
