It is staff's recommendation that the decision made by the Board of Zoning
Appeals to deny the request by Tire King to increase the height of a sign to 50
feet be upheld. This recommendation is based on the following:
- All other signs in this area of Veterans Parkway with the exception
of one located at 5426 Veterans Parkway (granted a variance in 2000) are lower
than 50 feet.
- Visibility from the south on Veterans is restricted by the landscape
medians, but there are a number of other businesses in this same area that are
also affected by the landscape medians.
- Granting of this variance in this area could lead to other requests
for higher signs.
