A RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, the new park located adjacent to the new high school on Veterans

Parkway is nearing completion;



WHEREAS, the grand opening for this new park is scheduled for May, 2002;



WHEREAS, this Council deems it appropriate at this time to officially name the

new park Northside Park and desires to dedicate this new park in honor of

recipients of The Purple Heart.



NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:



We hereby designate and name the new park located on Veterans Parkway near

Williams Road as Northside Park and we further dedicate this new park in honor

of recipients of The Purple Heart. The City Manager or his designee is hereby

authorized to erect appropriate signs and markers to reflect this official

designation and the dedication in honor of recipients of The Purple Heart.

Introduced at a regular meeting of the Council of Columbus, Georgia held on the
