BUILDING CONTRACTORS EXAMINING BOARD

REGULAR MEETING - 11:00 A. M. ? OCTOBER 2, 2003





The regular monthly meeting of the Building Contractors' Examining

Board was held Thursday, October 2, 2003, at 11:00 A. M., in the office of the

Building Official. Members present were:

Mr. Howard Bartlett Mr. William L. Duck, Jr.

Mr. Johnny Cargill Mr. Tommy Hinton

Mr. Allen Wright



Nine (9) applications were considered by the Board. Certificates of

Qualification were issued to the following applicants:



Residential Certificate

Cory S. Lipscomb, Cory Lipscomb Contracting, Inc., Pittsview, AL

Commercial Certificate

Shon Joseph Huettl, Carter-de Golian, Inc. Smyrna, GA



Mr. Hinton made a motion, which was seconded by Mr. Bartlett, to issue

Certificates of Qualification to these applicants on the basis of their grades

on the examination, their letters of recommendation, and their qualifications,

as revealed by their resumes, which showed the times and places of their work

experience. (Examinations were administered by International Code Congress

{formerly, SBCCI, Southern Building Code Congress, International}, on Saturday,

September 27, 2003.) Motion carried unanimously.



None of the other seven (7) who applied passed the examination. Mr.

Bartlett made a motion, which was seconded by Mr. Hinton, not to issue

Certificates of Qualification to these seven applicants until they pass the

examination. Motion carried unanimously.



Mr. Duck told the other Board Members that John Kittrell, d/b/a J.K.

Builders, Inc., has appealed the Decision of this Board to revoke his license

and will appear before Council on Tuesday, October 21, 2003, at 9:00 A.M. Mr.

Duck requested that the Board Members be present at Council on that day in

order to reinforce the Board's decision.



The Minutes of the Monthly Meeting of September 4, 2003, were approved

as presented.



There being no further business to come before the Board, the

meeting adjourned at 11:40 A. M.
