SUBJECT: Georgia Emergency Management Agency (GEMA) - Homeland Security
Exercise and Evaluation Program (GHSEEP)

Recommendation: Approval is requested to accept a grant of $88,894 from the
Georgia Emergency Management Agency funded through the Georgia Homeland
Security Exercise and Evaluation Program (GHSEEP) and amend the budget through
increasing the Multi-Governmental Fund 216 by $88,894 or the actual amount
funded.
Background: Funds have been allocated to the Georgia Emergency Management
Agency to conduct Weapons of Mass Destruction exercises to improve our
governments ability to respond to these types of incidences. Participants in
this exercise will include local agencies, regional agencies and federal
agencies.
Analysis: Funding of this grant proposals will vastly improve our ability to
respond to Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) incidences.
Financial Considerations: The total grant request is for $88,894 and does not
require a local match.
Legal Considerations: The Columbus Consolidated Government is eligibility to
receive these funds.
Recommendation/Action: Authorize the City Manager to accept a grant of $88,894
from the Georgia Emergency Management Agency funded through the Homeland
Security Exercise and Evaluation Program (GHSEEP) and amend the budget through
increasing the Multi-Governmental Fund 216 by $88,894 or the actual amount
funded Program.
