MINUTES # 50-01



The Columbus, Georgia, Board of Tax Assessors met Wednesday, December 26, at

2:00PM with Chairman Breaux, Assessors Kendrick, Love, Grantham and Stallings

present. Also present was Chief Appraiser Martin J. Land.



Approved Minutes # 49-01.



The Board approved an assessment correction for real estate.



Mr. Karl White had an appointment with the Board of Tax Assessors, but did not

appear.



Assessor Lawton Grantham recused himself.



Met with Mr. Putnam regarding the valuation of his 1982 Corvette. He told the

Board that he had a large increase in taxes the last two years, it went from

$60 to $160. He said the 1982 Corvette had 146,000 miles, although the body was

in good condition, the motor had a burned valve. He also said there are two

different models of the 1982 Corvette, one is the collector?s edition, but his

was not the collector?s edition. He said he could not find the valuation for

his car in the Bluebook since the car was so old. Mr. Putnam said a car like

his and in the same condition as his would not bring at an auction what his is

valued for taxes. The Board explained to Mr. Putnam the method the Department

of Revenue uses in valuing automobiles. The Board made no change in value.
