Encounters

Meeting 10 August 2004



The meeting was called to order by the Chairman Duke Miller at 5 p.m., in the

Mayor's

Conference Room in the Government Center. The following personnel were in

attendance:

The minutes of the previous monthly meeting were approved after the addition of

Deidre

Williams name to those in attendcance.



The Treasurer's report was received. There is $7985.96 in our account.



Tom Dolan made a report on the annual visit by the Kiryu students to Columbus:

Good support was received from everyone, new families were included in the home

stay program, The International Festival was a succcess and enjoyed by the

students,

the mentors were very helpful in keeping the students occupied and the students

really

enjoyed the the Reflections Reception.



CIRCLE expressed its appreciation to Tom Dolan for the fine way he handled the

Kiryu student visit this year.



Stacy Poydasheff indicated that CIRCLE will get more involved in the

International Festival.



Ed Wilson showed the Commission a brochure that he had recently received from

Mr Arai. It features the Reflections Sculture in the RiverCenter.



The distribution of the Reflections brochures was the next order of business.

Stacy Poydasheff was asked to check with Columbus Convention & Visitors Bureau

and get their ideas on this distribution and report back next month.



Ed Wilson passed around brochures from Kiryu to all Commmission members.



Duke Miller will contact Mary Renteria concerning the ISTD students from

Romania and possibly arranging for them to talk to CIRCLE.



Bill Walton suggested that CIRCLE buy plastic name badges for all members so we

can be identified when we attend city functions. Bunky Clark seconded this

motion and it was approved by the Commission. Duke Miller asked Bill Walton to

check on the cost of

these badges and bring a report to next month's meeting.



The next CIRCLE meeting will be at 5 p.m. on 14 Sep 2004, in the Mayor's

Conference

Room in the Government Center



The meeting was adjourned at about 6 p.m.
