A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO APPLY FOR AND IF APPROVED

ACCEPT A GRANT OF $26,667 FROM THE GEORGIA SECRETARY OF STATE TO CORRECT

ACCESSIBILITY ISSUES FOR DISABLED VOTERS AT POLLING LOCATIONS IN COLUMBUS,

GEORGIA AND AMEND THE MULTI-GOVERNMENTAL FUND 216 BY $26,667.



WHEREAS, the Columbus Consolidated Government is committed to providing

accessible polling locations for the citizens of Columbus, Georgia; and,



WHEREAS, the American Vote Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act

require that each state provide polling locations that meet that standards and

guidelines outlined in this legislation; and,



WHEREAS, this grant will be utilized to correct accessibility issues at

polling locations in Columbus, Georgia; and,



WHEREAS, the Georgia Secretary of State will provide $20,000 (75%), the

City will provide $6,667 (25%) for a total of $26,667.



NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:



That the City Manager is hereby authorized to:



1) Apply for and if approved accept a grant of $26,667 from the Georgia

Secretary of State to correct accessibility for disabled voters at polling

locations in Columbus, Georgia;



2) Amend the Multi-Governmental Fund 216 by $26,667;



3) Authorize the matching funds to be transfered from the General Fund

Contingency to the Multi-Governmental Fund.



Introduced at a regular meeting of the Council of Columbus, Georgia held
