A RESOLUTION



No.





WHEREAS, the Brookstone School Lady Cougars tennis team recently won their

sixth Class A State Championship;



WHEREAS, the Cougar boys team also finished as runner-up in the State

Championship tournament held in Stone Mountain;



WHEREAS, the Lady Cougars defeated St. Francis 5-0 in the semifinals and then

went on to win a thrilling 3-2 match against Athens Academy for the

championship;



WHEREAS, the Brookstone boys routed Galloway 5-0 in the semifinals and then

lost to Athens Academy 5-0 to take the runner-up trophy;



WHEREAS, the accomplishments of these Brookstone tennis teams are worthy of

special recognition by this Council.



NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:



We commend and congratulate Brookstone School Lady Cougars tennis players

Charity Calhoun, Rudi Cumiskey, Elizabeth White, Masy Swift, Kathleen Pease,

Mary Scarborough, Riley Prescott, Sally Varner and Coach Mary Lynne Cumiskey

upon their victory in the 2004 Class A State Championship and the Brookstone

Cougar boys tennis players Mason Stewart, S. L. Mullin, Warner Kennon, Clifton

Fay, Jr., Carter Wallace, Zack Bishop, Wilson Carroll, Edgar Callaway and Coach

Jim East upon their Second Place finish in the tournament. Columbus is proud of

these teams and their accomplishments and we wish them every success in the

future. Let a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the above-named

participants.
