AN ORDINANCE
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE ELECTIONS & REGISTRATION FY03 BUDGET FROM $666,647 TO
$676,647; ACCEPTING $10,000 FROM THE OFFICE OF THE SECRETARY OF STATE AND
AUTHORZING 4 PART-TIME ELECTION TECHNICIAN (G-4) POSITIONS THROUGH NOVEMBER 5,
2002.
WHEREAS, with the implementation of the Georgia?s new electronic voting
system, the City of Columbus has received 414 Direct Record Electronic Voting
(DRE) machines and has purchased 20 Direct Record Electronic Voting (DRE)
machines, and;
WHEREAS, the State of Georgia has committed over $4 million to voter
education on the new voting equipment, and;
WHEREAS, based on the 77,514 registered voters in Muscogee County, the
county will receive a $10,000 from the Office of the Secretary of State for
voter education.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
1. That the Elections & Registration budget is increased in the amount of
$10,000 for a total revised budget of $676,647.
2. That the City Manager is authorized to accept $10,000 from the Office of the
Secretary of State for voter education on the new voting equipment.
3. That 4 part-time election technician (G-4) positions are authorized through
November 5, 2002.
Introduced at a regular meeting of the Council of Columbus, Georgia, held the
