WHEREAS, Mr. Urmond A. Roberts, former employee with the Columbus Water Works,

died on September 21, 2001;

WHEREAS, Mr. Roberts retired on May 31, 1981 after serving over 28 years with

the Columbus Water Works.

NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:

We hereby convey to the family of Mr. Urmond A. Roberts our sincere condolences

and deepest sympathy. Mr. Roberts was an outstanding employee of the Columbus

Water Works and he will be missed by all who knew him.

WHEREAS, Ms. Linda D. Demps, former employee with the Columbus Adult Probation,

died on October 20, 2001;

WHEREAS, Ms. Demps retired on February 28, 2001 after serving 8 years with the

Adult Probation Office.

NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:

We hereby convey to the family of Ms. Linda D. Demps our sincere condolences

and deepest sympathy. Ms. Demps was an outstanding employee of the Columbus

Adult Probation and she will be missed by all who knew her.

WHEREAS, Mr. James E. Jernigan, former Mayor and Councilman with the Columbus

Consolidated Government, died on October 29, 2001;

WHEREAS, Mayor Jernigan retired on January 6, 1991 after serving 14 years with

the Consolidated Government;

WHEREAS, as an accountant, he closely monitored the budget of the Consolidated

Government and worked hard both as Councilor and as Mayor to ensure that the

public trust was honored.

NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:

We hereby convey to the family of Mayor James E. Jernigan our sincere

condolences and deepest sympathy. Mayor Jernigan was an outstanding Mayor and

Councilor for the Columbus Consolidated Government and he will be missed by all

who knew him.
