A RESOLUTION



No.



WHEREAS, Dee Shore, a teacher for 32 years, 21 of which have been at Clubview

Elementary School, will be retiring in 2002;



WHEREAS, Ms. Shore created the River Kids' Network which has taught students

the importance of protecting our natural resources, particularly the

Chattahoochee River and its local tributaries;



WHEREAS, she has raised the awareness of her students with respect to the study

of the environment, local wildlife, pollution and water quality;



WHEREAS, Ms. Shore was named 2001 Woman of Distinction in Education by

Soroptimist International of Columbus, was named in 1999 to the All-USA Teacher

Team for the top 20 teachers in the country and received 1996 Presidential

Award for Excellence in the Teaching of Mathematics and Science;



WHEREAS, Ms. Shore participates in many aspects of community life including

volunteer work for Upatoi Community Neighborhood Watch, service as a Keep

Columbus Beautiful Commissioner and service on the Help the Hooch Planning

Committee;



WHEREAS, Ms. Shore's dedication to her profession for 32 years and to children

in the Columbus community are worthy of special recognition by this Council.



NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:



We commend and congratulate Clubview Elementary School teacher Dee Shore upon

her retirement. Columbus is justly proud of her hard work and dedication to the

young people in our community for 32 years and we wish her every success in the

future. Let a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Ms. Dee Shore.

18th day of June, 2002, and adopted at said meeting by the affirmative vote of
