A RESOLUTION
No.
WHEREAS, Larry Aviles, Correctional Officer with the Muscogee County Prison
recently won a gold medal in the 200-Meter Race and a silver medal in the
1600-Meter Race at the Police and Fire Games held in Carrollton, Georgia;
WHEREAS, he also competed in the 1999 Police and Fire Games held in Columbus;
WHEREAS, he competed on the U.S. Army Track and Field team and qualified for
the 1980 Olympic trials, but was deployed to Germany before the trials were
held;
WHEREAS, he also served as an airborne instructor in the military for twenty
years;
WHEREAS, the accomplishments of Correctional Officer Larry Aviles are worthy of
special recognition by this Council.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:
We hereby commend and congratulate Muscogee County Prison Correctional Officer
Larry Aviles upon winning his gold and silver medals in the 2005 Police and
Fire Games held in Carrollton, Georgia. Let a copy of this resolution be
forwarded to Correctional Officer Larry Aviles.
