Council Members
WHEREAS, Mr. John Paul Ford will be retiring from the Georgia Department of

Corrections after 38 years of service;

WHEREAS, Mr. Ford began a career in law enforcement in 1968 as a patrolman with

the Chicago Police Department;

WHEREAS, he worked with the Columbus Police Department and obtained criminal

justice degrees from Columbus State University (B.S. Degree, 1975) and Troy

State University (Master's Degree, 1977);

WHEREAS, in 1977, he was appointed as Deputy Warden of care and treatment at

Scott State Prison and was named Warden of this institution in 1978;

WHEREAS, in 1980, he was appointed Warden of Metro State Prison and later

became Warden of Rutledge State Prison in Columbus;

WHEREAS, in 1990, he left Rutledge State Prison and has served as Assistant

Regional Director, Director of Audits and most recently, as State Supervisor

for County Prisons, providing oversight for Georgia's 24 county prisons.

NOW, THEREFORE THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:



This Council hereby expresses its appreciation to Mr. John Paul Ford for his 38

years of diligent and faithful service to the Georgia Department of

Corrections. We wish him happiness and contentment in his retirement.

Introduced at a regular meeting of the Council of Columbus, Georgia held on the

14th day of September, 2004, and adopted at said meeting by the affirmative

vote of ten members of Council.
