A RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, Honorable Thomas B. Buck, III, Representative from the 135th District,

has served for 38 years in the Georgia General Assembly;



WHEREAS, he won his first term in the General Assembly in the 1966 election and

began serving his Columbus District in 1967 while also practicing law in

Columbus;



WHEREAS, he became a committee chairman during his third year in the General

Assembly and earned a seat on the House Appropriations and Rules Committees;



WHEREAS, he served for more than a decade as chairman of the Appropriations

Committee which supervises the passage of the state budget;



WHEREAS, he served Columbus when legislation was passed approving consolidation

of Columbus and Muscogee County, he supervised local legislation including

numerous amendments to the Columbus Charter, amendments to general state law

concerning the SPLOST and LOST sales taxes and other matters of interest to the

Columbus community;



WHEREAS, his trademark black and white saddle oxfords and blue blazer graced

the halls of the Capitol for 19 terms of office and his service to 135th

District and the Columbus community will long be remembered.



NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:



We hereby commend and express our deep appreciation to Representative Thomas B.

Buck, III for his dedicated and outstanding service to the 135th District and

the citizens of Columbus, Georgia in the Georgia General Assembly. The

Columbus community and the State of Georgia are beneficiaries of his service

and we wish him every success in his retirement from the Georgia General

Assembly. Let a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Honorable Thomas B.

Buck, III.
