NO.



WHEREAS, Khadija Talley, a senior at Columbus High School, recently captured

the State AAAA Championship in the discus competition and the shot put

competition and her teammate, Chastity Williams, finished second in the shot

put competition;



WHEREAS, the State Championship Track and Field Meet was held in Albany,

Georgia on May 3, 2002;



WHEREAS, Khadija fired the discus 148 feet, 8 inches, a new Class AAAA state

record, and won the shot put competition with a throw of 45 feet, 5 inches,

just a few inches shy of the state mark;



WHEREAS, Chastity Williams launched a throw of 40 feet, 1 inch to finish second

in the shot put competition;



WHEREAS, the accomplishments of these two Columbus High School Lady Blue Devils

are worthy of special recognition by this Council.

NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:



We commend and congratulate Khadija Talley upon her victory in the State AAAA

Championship in the discus and the shot put competition and Chastity Williams

upon her second place finish in the shot put competition at the State

Championship Track and Field Meet held in Albany, Georgia. We are truly proud

of their accomplishments and their representation of Columbus at this event.

Let a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Khadija Talley and Chastity

Williams.
