Council Briefing
Meeting
March 8, 2005
Members Present: Councilors Wayne Anthony, Glenn Davis, Berry Henderson, Julius
Hunter, Jr., Charles E. McDaniel, Jr., Evelyn Turner Pugh, Nathan Suber and
Evelyn Woodson. Also present were Mayor Robert S. Poydasheff, City Manager
Isaiah Hugley, City Attorney Clifton Fay, and Deputy Clerk of Council Sandra
Davis.
Members Absent: Mayor Pro Tem John J. Rodgers was absent.
This meeting was in progress when the Deputy Clerk of Council arrived at 8:53
a.m., located in the Council Chambers Conference Room, Plaza Level, Government
Center.
Mid-Year Adjustment Amendment:
City Manager Hugley advised that Dr. Chang was in Columbus on last Thursday to
talk about the ozone. He reported that the city is doing well in this regard,
because the ozone has been reduced by approximately 11%. He explained that the
issue is with the particular matter of 2.5 and spoke of the three reading
monitors. He recalled that we have briefed the members of Council in this
regard; therefore, the Council is aware of the administration?s stand on this
matter.
Resolution setting the salary of the City Manager:
Mayor Poydasheff pointed out that all ten members of Council are not present
today and suggested that the resolution setting the salary of City Manager
Hugley be delayed for one week. Councilor Suber maintained that he would
prefer to take the vote today. Councilor McDaniel expressed his desire to
delay the vote.
After some continued discussion, it was determined that there would not be ten
members present on next week as well.
Unified Development Ordinance (UDO):
Councilor Davis asked about the changes to the UDO, at which time, City Manager
Hugley said that he has asked City Attorney Fay to delay the first reading on
this ordinance to allow for some additional discussion. City Manager Hugley
said that he would schedule a Pre-Council Meeting to go over the changes that
are being proposed and would respond to any further questions.
There being no other business to discuss, this meeting adjourned with the time
being 8:58 a.m.
