RESOLUTION
NO.
WHEREAS, on August 27, 2003, a strong thunderstorm did considerable damage to
the Oakland Park community;
WHEREAS, many trees and power lines were downed and debris covered many of the
streets in the area;
WHEREAS, the Columbus Public Services Department responded quickly with cleanup
crews and members of the Urban Forestry and Beautification Division worked
throughout the night and the next day to clean the area;
WHEREAS, the hard work of these dedicated employees is worthy of special
recognition by this Council.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:
We hereby commend the following employees of the Urban Forestry and
Beautification Division and express our deep appreciation for their hard work
in the cleanup of Oakland Park on August 27 and 28, 2003: Andy Godwin, Barry
Brown, Terry Evans, Tavis Boetz, Larry Taylor, Harold Walker, Joseph Williams,
Jabez Davis, Stanley Moses, Marvin Coverson, James White, Ralph Bailey, Terry
Sellers, Sanford Huff, Freddie Williams, Jerome Hall, Bishop Robinson, Darold
McNight, Solomon Williams Sr., Kenneth Shellings, Phillip Denure, Gary Bolen,
Russell McCoy, Andrew Lee, John Iniego, and William Edmond. Let a copy of
this resolution be forwarded to Mr. Rufus Riggs, Director of Public Services
and each named employee.

Introduced at a regular meeting of the Council of Columbus, Georgia held on the
30th day of September, 2003, and adopted at said meeting by the affirmative
vote of ten members of Council.
